The weather was gloomy on the way to the island. When I say, I want to climb in that mountain, chances are 99.9%. Two months ago, on the way to Alapasco Lake in Batad, I took a glimpse of this mountain perched on the island, caught my attention, and research was done. Contact numbers were obtained and casual conversations...
Three mountains in Panay which I had been dreaming. Before, I thought that Mt. Madia-as being the highest among the three was the most difficult one until I visited Nangtud last December 2019. Straight from Africa with a connecting flight in Manila to Iloilo, we spent a night in an Airbnb and continued our journey to Barbaza in Antique....
Such a refreshing flight from Singapore to Bandung. Haven't noticed that some of the guests of the flights were also attending the event until we picked up our luggage. The first night was to welcome participants. Had a nice dinner and discussed the plan of scaling 6 mountains in 6 days. That was my second time to join the...
Located in Kabayan, Benguet in the Cordilleras, this not-so-popular mountain is a common destination among hikers seeking long-thru hikes in Luzon. It can be done by day hike, overnight or a connection to Mt. Pulag. A bit more difficult than Mt. Tabayoc which is characterized by thick mossy forest, rich flora and fauna, existing hunting traps along the trails,...
Day 1: Mt. Lawu
Mt. Lawu is a massive compound stratovolcano in between Central and East Java, Indonesia with a towering elevation of 3265 masl. The last eruption was reported on November 28, 1885.
High spirited adventurers from 5 countries (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, & Thailand) destined & gathered to take the challenge of climbing 6 mountains in 6 days. Funny...
This is one of my favorite mountains in the Philippines located in Kabayan, Benguet with its major jumping-off point in Brgy. Ballay. Second highest mountain in Luzon and the fifth in the Philippines with an elevation of 2800+ masl. The long and dangerous ride from Baguio till Ballay is rewarded with panoramic views of unending valleys and mountain ranges,...
My last climb in the Philippines prior to moving to Morocco. It was a quick decision and was never really planned but we made it. Originally, we just wanted to chill around Manila, have a cold bottle of beer but we ended our conversation in this pristine mountain. Few days after, we found ourselves sleepy inside the bus when it...
This is the second highest mountain in Bicol region with an elevation of 2,000 masl and is potentially active stratovolcano located in the Province of Camarines Sur. It became a natural park in June 20, 2002 by virtue of Proclamation Number 214.
I was in Bicol for 2 weeks after I got laid off from my job in a psychiatric...
1st day.
Immediately started the trek after a hearty breakfast at Joring's Cafe in Kanlaon City. The hike to Makawiwili's Peak was worthwhile. Gloomy and occasional appearance of sunshine. I always want to arrive at the campsite before dark. I'm always lazy to pitch the tent at dark. Dinner of vegetable curry was enjoyed by the gang. No more socials...
Trekked for almost 2 hours and arrived in Brgy. Tudaya, Sta. Cruz and another habal-habal ride for more than an hour. Passed thru vegetable farms. Arrived in Sitio Colan, Sibulan, Davao del Sur. Trekked for less than an hour and camped at the farm community. Had a nice dinner and the cool fresh air delivered us to our comfy sleeping bag.
Woke...
